Director of ManUp Iowa: Zach Smith
Zach Smith received a BA in Psychology from the University of Iowa and an AA from Kirkwood Community College. He has over ten years of experience in the field including: One and a half years at Woodward Academy as a Youth Counselor and Individual/Group staff, 6.5 years with MIFTC as an In-Home Worker and 4 years with ManUp Iowa. The majority of Zach’s career has been providing FSRP services in the Polk County area which lasted for almost 6 years before he decided to spend all of his time focused on growing the ManUp Iowa Mentoring Program. Zach was a volunteer in past ManUp groups (2012) which is how he first became involved with ManUp. Zach has made it his life's purpose to fight for the expansion of preventative services in Iowa so that at-risk youth with limited resources may have opportunities to reach adulthood successfully.
Contracted Therapist: Mike Koch MSW, LISW
Mike has been working in the social services field for over 20 years focusing on youth and families. He specializes in treating mood disorders, depression, emotion management, behavior management, and has experience treating a wide variety of mental health disorders. Mike is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Iowa. Mike has been instrumental in ensuring the success of the Hybrid Model Partnership between ManUp Iowa and Next Step Counseling Services.
Contracted Therapist: Bryon Little MSW, LISW
Bryon is a licensed therapist who works for Next Step Counseling Services. He has facilitated therapy groups for the ManUp Iowa Hybrid Model since early 2016. His compassionate and empathetic nature makes him a perfect fit for leading therapy groups for youth.
Larissa Bustamante: Contracted Therapist (NSCS)
Larissa is a licensed therapist who works for Next Step Counseling Services. She has facilitated therapy groups for ManUp Iowa Mentees since 2016 and specializes in working with teens.
Colin Farley: Contracted Therapist (NSCS)
Colin is a licensed therapist who works for Next Step Counseling Services. He has also worked for the VA and specialized in treating substance abuse disorders. Colin has been involved with the ManUp Iowa Mentoring Program since 2014 when he first became a volunteer mentor with the Program. In 2016, he started a new role by providing therapy groups to mentees who were enrolled in the service.
